Hi, I’m James.
I live near London. I’m a fan of good food, comic-book movies & books. And I can’t get enough of Lip Sync Battles.
I love to write, and I coach other writers & creative people, and help them find their unique writing voice and explore their creative calling. (You can find information on my coaching here.)
I write books, blog posts, host a podcast, and create other work which explores issues of spirituality, creativity, identity, calling, living an authentic life, and what it really means to be human. This site is my online home where you’ll find my blog, and information on all my other work.
I won’t guarantee it will solve all your problems. I can’t promise it won’t offend you. But I will promise it will be the best, most honest work I’m capable of.
I used to care what others thought of my writing. I used to make numbers & stats an idol. Now what I care about most is creating the highest quality work I can. And above all, making everything I create the most honest work I can, true to who I am, and my story.
“James has some great things to say about art & creativity, and his writing comes from a deep place.”
– Tanya Marlow, Blogger & Author ‘Coming Back To God When You Feel Empty’
In all my work I’m motivated by the opportunity to use this space to help & encourage others in:
– Discovering their identity
– Finding authenticity in their life and work
– Discovering and exploring their true calling
– Exploring and developing their creative gifts
– Discovering what it means to be human
Books, Blog & Podcast
You’ll catch me on the blog around once a week (find my latest post here) and my first trade book ‘Mosaic Of Grace: God’s Beautiful Reshaping Of Our Broken Lives’, is now available to pre-order on Amazon.
I’ve written 4 e-books, two of which are still available. “Dance Of The Writer: A Beginners’ Guide To Authentic Writing” is available free below and you can find out more about it here (you can also get your free copy there).I’ve just released an e-book to purchase – ‘Unlocking Creativity: Daily Words Which Helped Me Find My Voice’ (but you can get it free by joining my blog & Facebook community – more below).
I host a weekly podcast, the ‘Poema Podcast’, on the intersection between spirituality, creativity, and identity, which goes out each Wednesday. In it I explore all sorts of issues around spirituality, creativity and identity, often with inspiring guests. You can listen & subscribe to the Poema Podcast on iTunes or on Podbean.
I’ve guest posted for some prominent authors and bloggers such as Sarah Bessey, Jeff Goins, Mary DeMuth & Tanya Marlow, amongst others. On top of this I write bi-monthly posts over at digi-disciple, run by the Big Bible Project.
I’ve also contributed to devotional books for both Advent & Lent – ‘Waiting for the Light – An Advent Devotional’ and more recently ‘A Journey Into Wholeness – Soul Travel From Lent to Easter’.
“One of the best encouragers online”
